The term ORGANIC simply refers to how the product is being made. Different countries will have different requirements and regulations when it comes to how organic food should be processed. Fundamentally, it means that the crops are grown without using:

On the other hand, non-organic food are usually not given access to the outdoors an usually fed with growth hormones. Besides that, antibiotics and medications are quite common too.

- Environmental Friendly – Farming using organic methods are a lot kinder to the grounds and surroundings. It helps in reducing erosion, pollution and definitely do not consume as much energy.
- Medication – Livestock raised organically are not given antibiotics or any form of medication.
- GMO-free – Organic food are certified to be GMO or GE free.
Does this mean Organic food is pesticide-free?
Actually, it does not. Organic farms do use pesticides although they are not as harmful. They use very low level of pesticides and these are actually derived naturally. One guarantee is that they do not use synthetic pesticides that contain harmful ingredients.
You might have been informed or probably read somewhere that washing and peeling your food and fruits might eliminate the pesticides which although it helps will not do so totally. In fact, it might wash away nutrients that are valuable.

Shop around and look for the one that you are most comfortable with particularly with the pricing. Buy them when they are in season. Read the labels. Certification is where it involves costs and that is why organic food can be more expensive.
