Sambal Tumis Sotong


200 – 300g of fresh squid

1 clove of garlic

5 -10 dried chillies

1 teaspoon of belacan

1 tablespoon sugar


3 cloves of shallot

½ inch of ginger

1 onion

Tamarind juice, to get the juice, just soak a teaspoon of tamarind paste in a cup of warm water

Salt to taste

How to prepare

Take the shallots, garlic, ginger, the dried chillies and blend them together. After that, take a frying pan and heat the oil, now take the ingredients that you blended earlier and cook it in the pan until you notice the paste has separated from the oil. Now you can add the belacan and the squid, make sure to stir the content well so that it cooks evenly. Take the slices of onion and add them in along with the tamarind juice as well as the salt and sugar to taste. Once the sambal thickens you can serve it along with white rice.
