Microsoft has announced that the new Windows Phone 7 is called Mango. The software giant has already released the version for manufacturers for Operating System testing as well as for compatibility testing too. It is expected to be available in a few weeks’ time where Fujitsu is most likely the first and then Nokia, Samsung, LG and HTC will follow suit.
The new operating system does not look that different from those currently in the market although it is now easier to use and somewhat smarter. The home screen is the Start Screen which is very much the ‘Start’ button that Microsoft users have come to get accustomed to. Here is where it provides all the information you will need like SMS, weather, things to do and such.
They have announced that there will be a ‘hub’ concept which include the ‘People Hub’ where it refers to your friends that include your connection in social networks like Facebook and Twitter.
They have also integrated the Windows Live account here on top of your contact list in your SIM card. The Pictures, Games and Media Hubs are also available for its self-explanatory purposes. So whether or not it will kick Apple off its perch remains to be seen, but it surely is exciting times for Microsoft.
