Built as an official residence for Scottish Planter, William Kellie Smith in the 19th century, this enchanting castle perched atop a hill thus, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the surroundings.
The construction of this meticulously crafted castle begun in 1915. Unfortunately, the castle was never completed following Kellie’s sudden death in 1926. The ruins of the castle remained and stood still for decades and have somehow turned into a popular tourist attraction in Perak. Although the castle is no fairy tale, one would still find it stunning especially under the pale moonlight.
Makeover and refurbishment
The state government refurnished and improved the castle inside and out in an effort to preserve the ruins as well as to rescue the impressive structure. Highly recommended in travel guides and magazines, the castle is rumoured to be haunted.
