How to Submit E-Filling

Submitting your income tax can be quite a headache in the past especially when you have to compile all the required documents like receipts and claims. When it comes to the months of March and April, you will be scrambling for your documents and visiting the Inland Revenue Board to declare your tax. This has however been made much easier today where you can now submit your income tax online through the E-Filling system.

E-Filling is an automated system implemented by the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia for the convenience of income earners in Malaysia to submit their yearly assessment information. Whether you are of any nationality, as long as you have earned an income in Malaysia for more than 182 days, you will be subjected to the income tax laws of the country.

So what do you need in order to submit the E-Filling to income tax?

For first timers, you must have a file with Income Tax. This is usually done by the company you are attached with. In fact, the company will have ‘opened’ a file for you as they will be deducting your monthly salary under the PCB (Potongan Cukai Berjadual) and contributing them to Income Tax. Once you have the file number, you can request for the Pin Number.

This Pin Number is very important as you will need it to login for the first time in the E-Filing system. Once you have the Pin Number, log in to You will be required to login using the Pin Number and your Personal Identification Number.

From there, you will be directed to the e-BE Form. This is the form which is particularly meant for earners with no business income. That means if you are employed by a company, then it would be the right document for you.

Select this option and you will be directed to the online form where you will need to fill in all the required fields. You will first need to update your personal particulars as they might change each year. You will then need to click on the save and next option which will then direct you to the income and expenditure pages. Ensure that all the figures are inserted accurately and take note of any tax reliefs that you are eligible for.

Once you have inserted all the fields required and concerned, then the system will actually calculate your final taxable income. If you have paid more through your PCB, then they will reimburse you within 1 month after you have submitted the form. If you have underpaid, then you will be required to make your payment as stated.
