Once a teenager hits puberty they will some way experience some form of acne, it can range from mild cases to very severe ones. Most people think that once they get past the puberty stage their trouble with acne will be over; this however is unfortunately far from the case. In fact adults in their twenties to their late forties will continue to suffer from acne outbreaks and this affects both the male and female. This does not mean that it is the end of the world though, as there are many forms of treatments that the adults who are suffering from acne can choose from.

Most of the acne treatments out there in the market currently work by preventing new breakouts from happening. There are even some forms of drugs that can be used for women to decrease the level of testosterone in their bodies. For cases of very severe acne and other forms of medication has thus far been unresponsive you may consider using isotrtinoin, however you should consult this with your doctor first before taking any action as well as to see if there are forms of alternate treatments that you can look at.

Other forms of treatment that you can consider

If you have large red bumps on your skin, you can treat this by injecting corticosteroids and even taking birth control pills have side effects that will help with the treating and reduction of acne outbreaks. Laser resurfacing is where the treatment can be used to vaporize the acne to clear the way for new skin growth. However it is best that you consult this will your dermatologist first, so that the treatment that you choose does not actually worsen the condition of your acne.

Slap those itchy fingers! – Never “pop” that acne

Whatever reason you have, you should never pick or squeeze the acne as to avoid the scarring of the skin. This is especially for inflammatory acne or pustules as when you squeeze them you are actually forcing the infected material deeper into the skin. This will cause additional inflammation and of course the possibility of scarring and on the topic of things that we should not do you should also avoid scrubbing the skin.
